I am looking into the Combi Zeus Convertible Car Seat but also prerequisite info on other infant seats. I have read recalls where some detached from the base during accidents.
I use both the authority site and Consumer Reports. You might have to join Consumer Reports online to use theirs but not sure.
www. consumerreports.com
The authority site is free. They have an "ease of use" rating on over 78 seats.
http://www.nhtsa.gov/
Click on their "girl safety seat" section on the left.
They also show you where you can get the seat put in for you. They do a great job! I recommend that!
Good Luck!
I assume from online to go to http://www.nhtsa.gov/ BUT It said to click on "child seat ratings" and I could not find that lumpish button!!! Can anybody direct me to the list of child car seat safety ratings? Please look at the site first before you type it in. I'm looking for the ratings for a Cosco Scenera 5 locale car seat.
Thanks
Wow, they don't dote on it easy to find this, do they? The only child seat ratings link I found on that webpage was ease of use, not safety. I found this:
http://www.consumersearch.com/www/family/car-seats/pointer.html?source=adwords&gclid=CJ-RycaEsIwCFQlQWAodBztKSg
but it's not all that great - the best I could find was consumer reports online, but of route you have to have a subscription...
Where can I find the car seat safety ratings for Cosco Scenera 5 Show Convertible Car Seat?
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5716972
Every carseat on the trade in today is safe as long as it is used correctly each time AND that it is installed correctly. The Scenera is a OK champion, inexpensive seat. What is nice is that it rear faces to 35lbs, the bad thing is that it will only harness to 40lbs. The harness slot height is a small lower than the Safety 1st Uptown. The Uptown will harness rf to 35lbs and ff to 40lbs and had higher harness slots than the Scenera.
I am all for a higher rig limit seat though like the Britax Marathon/Boulevard/Decathlon, Sunshine Kids Radian 65/80, Recaro Signo or Como. They all stern face to 33lbs and then ff anywhere from 65-80lbs. The reason I suggest a higher weight limit seat is that IF your child hits the albatross/height limitations on the Scenera or Uptown before age 4 AND 40lbs, you will need to get another seat. IT is because 4years old and 40lbs is the bear minimum safety standards before getting them a sash positioning booster. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at CPSTinMN@yahoo.com.
