How long can you really keep a baby car seat for?

The instructions and guidelines say not to use your car seat once it is over 4 years old because it will no longer be correct.

Do you think this is just a money making ploy or is it really unsafe?

Have you used the same car baby seat for all your children even though it was older than 4 years?

I have 1 youngster now but cannot afford to have another for at least 4 years.

it depends on the prosper really....if you got a cheap naff one then id change it even before 4yrs, i would say that sounds quite a respectable amount of years cash-drawer you should get another one...dont know if it would still be ok to keep it longer or not, id change it around than tho

Well my oldest daughter is 10, and i hardened the same car seat for her and her sister, who is 3! and they are both still perfectly alive!! As long as the seat is not broken or worn in anyway, then it is fine, and this is just their way of getting you to disburse more money!

Is it safe to put a baby car seat in a Jeep TJ?

Hello eveyone! I'm unbiased wondering if anybody can help me out. I am currently 5 months pregnant and I'm expecting my baby in July. I have a 1997 Jeep TJ and was wondering if anyone knows it is a suitable vehicle to drive with a small rear facing infant car seat? The reason I ask is that the back seat of a Jeep Wrangler is a petty more narrow then that of a car, also the back seats sit so high up that there is no metal protecting the baby since the window starts right about where the seat is... Anyways if someone knows anything about this or knows where I could find the info I would undeniably appreciate it. Thanks!
I woulnd't take the roof off, and I have a fiber glass hard top on it right now.

i would resuscitate this concern up to a pediatrician, they are the ones that would be better able to answer it.

but honestly if you don't feel it would be safe, then you shouldn't. i wouldn't go anywhere if you did put the baby in it without the top on, because that could be way too much flatulence on a baby

We're about to have our first offspring. We don't have a car but we live in a city and will need to travel by taxi once in a while. This means we need to get a car seat for the baby. We would prefer a seat that is strapped in the car unbiased using the seat belt - don't want one that needs a base as we'll only have to store the base in our apartment. Can anyone recommend a car seat like this? It would also be proficient if the car seat could be used in a stroller frame as our 'everyday' stroller. Any advise would be much appreciated.

I ardour my Graco Heirloom car seat (the black and cream one)and matching stroller (sold separately) It will hold them up to 30 lbs. My squelch has a base for the seat in his car so we can just move her from one car to the other without moving her from seat to seat. 5 stars in my book!!!
