At what age or weight is it O.K. to stop using a child car seat and start putting your kid in a standard seat?

My daughter is almost 3 yrs old and about 32 lbs and can't faithful to being in her child seat. I was wondering when am I OK to put her in the cars original seat with the standard seat belts?

I can't wait to have the cumbersome child seat out of my car but I don't want my daughter to get damaged either.

my granddaughter is about same age and slant we got her a good booster seat for the car shes happy because she is out of the seat and she really don't realize shes in the booster seat but they are very safe and they sit up prodigal so she can seeout the windows which she likes there not that expensive at walmart

Does any one know the laws in regards to a child car seat in a semi-truck?

We are planning a relatives trip with my husband, who drives a semi for a living. We are wondering if a child has to be restrained in a car seat at all times in a semi, or if they can sit in the bunk/bed with and full-grown with out a car seat. We have seen children in other semis that are not buckled, but we are not sure if is legal. We don't wish to break any laws or put our son in any risk. We would really appreciate any feed back or actual references to this. Thank you.

P.S.-Our son is 14 months old and weighs approx. 30 lbs.

yep, seat for sanctuary but thats a long ride in a seat. maybe if you get pulled in for inspection pop him in real quick .

Until what age is child car seat necessary in Ontario, Canada?

Until what age (or what powder) is a child car seat absolutely nessecary in Ontario Canada? Is it the rest of Canada the same as well? How about the US?

In Ontario, it's as follows:

up to 20 lbs - in produce facing car seat, away from active airbag
20-40 lbs - forward facing seat with tether strap
40-80 lbs - booster seat with lap and straightforwardly belt

The recent changes upped the booster seat limit to 80lbs or 8 yrs old. This I know, because I had to re-purchase them for my twins after I sold their old ones when they turned 7. Fagged out $90 so they could use them for 8 months.
