What is the the best overall convertible car seat for a small car?

I have a Mazda3 and my 8 month old is growing out of her infant seat. Which convertible seat is upper-class for a small car?
Your most skilfully bet is to go to a baby store (like Babies R Us) and ask to test out seats in your vehicle. You should be able to just render your ID at the counter and take the seats out to your car to test them.
If you vehicle is really small read the manual before you go and make unwavering you can brace the car seat against the back of the seat of the car. Some vehicles prohibit this as well as some child safety seats - so you want to find a seat that allows it (and hopefully your conveyance will too). Some seats/cars require 1"+ distance between the installed seat and the back of the passenger/driver seat.
Other seats may also admit bracing but I know for a fact that Britax seats encourage bracing - in my mini van I actually move the rider seat back and the captains chair forward so my son's rear facing seat is braced securely against the passenger seat back.
Other key features to look for - a raise facing weight limit of 33-35 pounds (rear facing is infinitely safer and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends keeping children put up facing to the limits of their seat (not just 20 pounds and 12 months), a high forward fa limits (65 pounds) and high top harness slots (to give them room to grow taller).

I'm a first habits mom, 36 weeks on Friday, and I was wondering if there was an affordable convertible car seat out there that could be used from birth? I had an infant car seat given to me, but I don't propose b assess it's that safe so my husband and I are looking into buying a new replacement car seat and think that the convertible seats would be a lot more beneficial. Any of you have any advice on a worth car seat?
Each of our sons have been in a Britax Marathon from their first car badger on. It's not one of the cheaper seats on the market, but it's well made, comfortable, and has held up to a lot of use.

I have seen convertible car seats in the shops and they say it's meant for newborn babies up until an 18kg juvenile. Just wondering how safe they are for newborns as they can't really lay down and how are they strapped in safely. I'm thinking to buy a convertible seat rather than a basinet paradigm and then have to buy another seat when the child reaches 8kg. What are your opinions?
convertable car seats are impeccably safe, they still have to meet all safety requirements. They face rearward in the car and they recline, so baby is almost laying down. They should have a five applicable harness so baby is in securely.
