Car seat expiration
This is why car seats perish in 6 years. This test shows a dummy in a 10 year old car seat. The straps break free and the little one flies out.

HI there i am wanting to know if its legal to sell used car seats if so is there an age limit?
I have a car tokus that is no longer of use to me and wish to sell it to someone who will use it, its in great condition hardly been used can go forwards and backwards
It is not interdicted, however, there's lots of things to consider before selling that seat. You want to make absolutely sure its safe as houses for another child to use or you could be held liable if it fails in an accident.
Car seats expire 5-6 years after the date of creation, which is on a label somewhere on the seat. The plastic starts to degrade and won't stand up to a crash putting a child at jeopardize for dying in even a minor wreck. If it was in a crash, the harness could break right through the plastic, allowing the babe to be thrown from the seat! Another reason manufacturers refuse to be liable past 5-6 years is because regulations, standards, and fall tests change making older seats less safe than newer seats. Condition and history doesn't difficulty when the seat is expired. And there's no way to tell by looking at a seat whether or not it is safe. You can't tell if a seat is safe by looking. The only way to castigate is to put a baby in it and get in a wreck and see how the baby and seat come out of it. And I wouldn't want to use my child as a crash assay dummy.
Also make sure:
1)it has never been in any wreck
2)it has all the original pieces, including manual
3)it has never been dropped, which means never been checked as bags at the airport, either, since this frequently happens when checked or gate checked .
4)the straps have never been completely submerged or washed with anything other than unassuming soap(it messes up the flame retardent treatment)
5)if there are any recalls, make sure it has been taken tend of, fixed or replaced.
Do you think that car seats that are expired should still be used?
Do you create car seats that are expired should still be used? In case some of you don't know you aren't supposed to use a car seat after it is 5-6years old.
We went before my son was born to have a car ensconce installed and it turned out that it was expired and they wouldn't put it in. We went out and bought a brand new one.
I have in mind it all depends on how long it was used. I used my sons carrier for 4 months, I still have it, but I'm sure by the time I have another baby it will be expired. I'm sure-fire it's still safe to use, but I don't guess I would risk it. I keep it in my moms garage so it's exposed to extreme heat and cold, which is one on account of your not supposed to use them anymore, I guess it warps the plastic and makes it less sturdy. Also when they sit in your car it can warp the plastic too. And when you constantly use the buckles it makes it less unharmed... so I guess I will probably buy a new one, but I think it should depend more on how long it was used and if its stored in a place that room temperature I dont see why it can't be used again.
Vegetarians and vegans- would you purchase a used car with leather seats?
I unusually, really hate leather. But I am on a very limited budget and have been searching for a used car for two months now. I have finally found one that seems perfect- low miles, tremendous condition, clean record.... but it has (maybe) leather seats (we actually aren't sure if they are actual leather or not).
I would never in a million years buy leather retail, but I am wondering if in this case it matters or not. I keep going back and forth on this- what would you do?
My in the flesh opinion is this, unfortunately the animal is dead already, so buying the used car with the intent to use it to the fullest extent possible gives the rude's death "slightly" more respect and dignity, I think. I would never buy a new leather car or piece of fittings, but if someone were to give me a used one I would feel that I am recycling and therefore, appreciating the life that was given rather than just having it thrown away. I contemplate I made sense and I hope this helps. I understand what it is to have a limited budget so just do the best YOU can. Take care.
