Anyone have any advice about offset patio umbrellas?
Where to buy? What to look for? What not to buy?
Where to buy?:
We purchased ours from Lowe's. That set aside has a good selection from which to choose. I just check Lowe's web site and only found one off-set that is not what we purchased, so I don't certain how they decide what to put on the web.
We shopped WalMart also along with a local store that is dedicated to patio furniture and assories.
What to look for?
Tip that you get what you pay for. With these off-sets be mindfull of the laws of physics. The more weight that is "hung" the farther away from the take up the cudgels for, the more counterballance weight (mass) will be required to hold the structure in place when external forces (ascendancy) apply MORE forces to the off-set mass (umbrella).
We purchased the one that has a massive base within which we fill with water, adding several hundred pounds (assemble) to the support system.
Ease of errection is another factor. Ours has a very handy crank-cable with some safety features that other models do not have. What you do not privation is the umbrella part to come crashing down on someone(s) head(s) because someone else just happened to trip the system.
Diameter of the unbrella is a preference also . . . smaller means less counter weight (mass) required to hold in place in a easy.

Basicly, do not buy cheap or light or flimsy. Counter-ballance mass is very very important. This becomes quite unmistakable when the first strong wind gust whips in while you're doing the topless sunbathing thing :-) LOL

What kind of lights would be best for a patio umbrella-electric, battery, or solar?
I would sweetheart to have one of those patio umbrellas with lights running along the inside ribs. Am not enthused about running an electric cord but wonder how extensive the batteries would last on a battery operated umbrella. Or would an umbrella with solar operated lights be satisfactory.
go stirring. solar too dim, batteries don't last. I found a good kit that ties to the ribs.
Who makes the best patio umbrellas for a very windy area. The kind that goes through a table.?
We purchased ours through CedarStore.com, and leaning it. We purchased a Sunbrella umbrella for our outdoor picnic table and it has held up great. If we know a hail is coming, we do take it down, though.
They have a large assortment of umbrellas to choose from.
