Can a patio umbrella stand in just a base or does it have to be in a table?

I have a patio set that doesn't accomodate an umbrella; can I scarcely set up an umbrella in a base or does it need the table for extra support. I know there are special umbrellas that stand alone but I would lean a regular umbrella base because they are wayyy cheaper!

Most of those umbrellas are not designed to stand alone. If the coarse was tall enough and heavy enough, you may be able to get by, but for the most part they need to be in the table for added stability.

Is there a glue strong enough to hold weight bearing plastic on patio umbrella?

Last year our patio umbrella snapped. The susceptible piece that holds the umbrella to the stand (it bears the weight of the umbrella ) broke. I am wondering if there is a glue strong enough to hold it. It also swivels, so this is a apprehensiveness. Thanks in advance!

You should achieve it in to the place that you bought it at and explain that you've only had it for a year. They should be able to just replace it for you.
