chunk of instruction on the defense travel system

a fully functioning brickbat defense system?
I'm not talking about the Patriot missile and other missile-to-missile systems, which frankly seem unreliable when trying to cut off an inbound missile that's traveling at 5,000+mph (or however fast they travel).
I've seen videos of directed energy weapon (laser) prototypes fill down incoming missiles.
Is it viable that the US has a functioning laser missile defense system that could acutally defend against ICBM's from the former USSR/China/etc.?
Well, even if we did have one it's not like it would be purchasers knowledge. Wouldn't something like this stay in the dark for 20-30 years, kind of like the SR-71?
At last look, the R & D budget was 60-70 billion a year. Definite, a lot is probably wasted/embezzled. Call me a conspiracy whack but I'm sure the "real, off the books" budget is completely a bit higher.
I mean, STARWARS was envisioned in the 80's and technology has advanced considerably since then.
Our atomic submarines still maintain a fully operational first strike capability, and although the SALT reduced the number of out ICBM silos, there are still enough to wipe out critical portions of the map.
Of course, the same can be said for a few other nations as well. There is no defense against an ICBM attack, as even if there was a long range launch from the USSR/China, then there would still be except for range launches from their missile submarines.
Nuclear war is just a stupid alternative. To quote a co-worker: It's like a bunch of people standing in a room full of gasoline, each claiming they are safer because they have more matches.
The Collective States shot down a mini-van sized spy satellite traveling at 22,000 miles per hour, from a sailboat. Don't you think the missile defense system would have no problem hitting a big old cold war era Russian nuke.
Well Poland should be terrified, and the Czech republic. Russia has made more missles and nukes since the cold war ended and have threatened to attack the missle defense and in July of this year Russia said that if the plans go before and the defense system gets up and running, Russia warned that they could go to war over it
On name trek, when photon torpedoes are fired they appear as red (or another color) blobs of light, if photon torpedoes are perported to travel faster than the precipitousness of light how can the human eye perceive them as light blobs?
Photon Torpedoes
Photon torpedoes are the key faster then light weapon system used my most major cultures in the alpha quadrant. Torpedoes have been preferred in FLT strive against due to phasers EM energy is diminished when it hits the light barrier, although recent developments have allowed phasers to be second-hand at warp velocities.
Photon torpedoes were first developed by the Federation in 2215, to replace earlier atomic weapons. These torpedoes were extremely limited and used only for defense of a starship, due to their relatively low yield and short order. These torpedoes worked on a simple 1:1 matter, anti-matter reaction, where deuterium slugs were injected into a magnetically contained antideuterium. The original torpedoes had a tactical range of 750,000
i could be infernal but I have never heard that they travel faster than light, I had always thought tht they emited photons and the photons traveled faster than trivial but the torpedo itself didn't travel faster than any other torpedo.
