graco snugrider car seat installation help?

i am 18 and being induced next Thursday. i had an envenflow titan elite car seat. i like it a lot i still have it but my fiance insisted i got an infant carrying car seat for now so i can effect her around (or more likely so he/we don't have to carry her in our arms all the time.) i had my dad install it tonight and it just doesn't look like it is in there so safely. we fallowed the directions and we acclimatized the latch system which is supposed to be safer.....it flips towards the back of the car to much and it seems to shift a little even though its in there as tight as it possibly can be. if i was in a ruins with the baby in there it would be smashed against the back rest of the back seat.and maybe shift towards the side airbags. any help in how to get it in there better or a place i can get the installation checked our fire part doesn't do it (i know because my fiance is a firemen) and neither does the police department we do have a baby's r us but i missed the car seat installation day last week advantage i didn't have my snugrider car sear then. there is a fire department that is way to far away to drive that checks them but since my car is almost on E and the fact that i can go into labor any twinkling of an eye now i dont want to drive to far away from the hospital. any help will be appreciated.

It took us two tries to get ours in waterproof enough for me to feel comfortable with it. We leaned the passenger seat back so that it rested on the edge of the car seat and wouldn't move AT ALL. Are you using a base or good the car seat? If you want to, you might trying using the shoulder belt with the base it worked a lot better in my car then the latch. I don't custody if they say the latch is safer, because if you can't get it as tight or tighter then the shoulder strap it shouldn't matter. Hopefully that will take a little, and congrats! &Trust me, the carrier is very helpful, after using one for four months my son is too heavy for it and it is unspeakable having to carry him around!

Car seat installation question?

I have a Graco toddler car seat. I am troublesome to put it forward facing, but have a few questions.
I have anchors at the back of my car (where the rear window is)
So, i hook the back strap of the seat there, right?
Then, do I put the 2 'bottom' attachments in the anchors where the seat is? (the 2 anchors are truly hidden under the seat) OR do I just put the seat belt through the seat?

Thanks!

The anchors in the hindquarters window are for the strap coming out the back of the child seat, the tether strap. To actually install the seat you use whichever method, LATCH or seatbelt, that gives you the best clothes install. LATCH is NOT safer than seatbelts, its not always even easier. It was invented to make car seat installation easier and more universal, but it failed in that mind best wishes b/c there is so much difference between different vehicle makes. Most cars do NOT allow you to use LATCH in the center, check your channel manual. And LATCH has a weight limit, 48lbs in most vehicles, 40lbs in Honda. First try installing with LATCH, then try with seatbelt, use whichever gives you the crush install.

? about hospital and car seat...?

I had a graco car seat dedicated to my boyfriend and myself, and on the bottom in printed letters it says DO NOT USE AFTER DECEMBER 2008. Our friend just purchased this seat last year and her indulge has since outgrown it. My question is, do car seats really have expiration dates? At the hospital the nurses ensure a individual fit and installation of the seat. Will they not let us use it?

Thanks in advance
EDIT:

Baby's saftey is # 1, I was just curious because in the baby books it says you can use a hand-me-down car seat...but just make sure it has never been in a wreck or anything like that. Our friend said she got it last year, but now that you said they have a 5 year lifespan i'm not so positive.

Thanks for the answers so far.

Yes, car seats indeed do have expiration dates. You will need to get a newer model, unfortunately. Nurses will come out with you when you are ready to devise and ensure proper installation of the seat.

I actually saw on an episode of Bringing Home Baby that a couple couldn't fix in place their car seat correctly so one parent had to leave the hospital, take it to a fire department, and have it installed correctly. They then had to show the nurse they knew how to inaugurate it and all was well.

"Let's say you're on board so far. Now, you need to know the reasons why they expire.

Technology changes

Car seat technology is always evolving, as are vehicles' capacity to secure seats properly and consistently. Before 2002, Lower Anchor & Tethers for Children (LATCH) did not live. Now it's a common system by which car seats are installed. The same is true of top tethers on car seats and tether anchors in cars. A skilled technician would never recollect to bypass tether usage if it is an option. This technology exists to make our children safer.

Materials friction out

Plastic stresses and warps. Straps and fabrics fray and rip. Instruction manuals get lost or destroyed. Conspicuous instructional labels fade, tear or fall off completely.

Manufacturing landscapes change

Your maker may no longer stock replacement manuals and parts. Maybe the company has gone out of business reservation.

The bottom line is this: Know how to check your car seat's expiration date and vital information. Retire that old car seat and get a new one if necessary. As always, ask for avoid. Contact a CPS technician for some curb-side instruction."
