Non Genuine Microsoft Product Installed Acer Direct (Laptops Direct)?
I was sold an Acer Aspire 5920 system by Laptops Direct and asked for them to put Office Small Business 2007 OEM version on the machine. When I found out I couldn't download a Microsoft Huddle template because I had a Non-Genuine product, I got a little concerned. Every application (WORD, Excel, PowerPoint, etc) displays "non-commercial use", which according to Microsoft:
In the Microsoft Software Approve Terms, the "non-commercial use" text identifies the use of the product. You may install one licensed copy of the software on three devices in your household. The software is not licensed for any commercial trade activities, nonprofit business activities, or revenue-generating business activities.
Microsoft themselves told me that the Product Id for the rendering of Microsoft Office on my machine is a retail one and doesn't match the product key. The company does not answer my emails and I can't get any sense out of their character support "team".
What should I do?

Windows can't update because product key doesn't match?
My friends old computer crashed a while back, had to get new oppressive drive. he didn't have back up disc.... so repar shop installed a version of windows that didn't match his old one, so now the product key isn't valid everytime he goes to do windows update and it sends him through WGA and i've tried to email microsoft but they didn't harass replying... the sticker with the original product key is on the side of the computer, how can i get his computer valid and up to date again?

Last August I bought a compaq desktop with vista already installed. Last month my bunk-mate left me barrow his Windows vista Disc to clean out my computer. The only problem is it was for Dell. It work for a month then a few days ago it said the product keys didn't match. Now I am searching our resident wal*mart. But they only carry the upgrades. So it leaves me to the question, Can a Windows Vista upgrade disc fix a compter with Vista already installed?
Ethically, I am not sure of what your problem is. If your friend gave you a Dell system disk and you put it in a Compaq, nothing will happen. If he gave you a disk from Vista, it would have requested a product key before anything happened. The only way you can launder your system is using the Windows backup and creating a backup disk.
The best time to make a backup disk is when you first get you computer, before you initiate to surf the web and coming in contact with a lot of bad sites. If you wait too late, you could already have bad files on your computer and the only way to get them off, before they do any damage, is by overwriting them. I have in mind this is where your friend was getting at. You can do this with system restore; restoring your system to it's original condition.
If you are using Vista, to run System Restore, click your Desktop Icon and exemplar System Restore in the Start Search box. Then, follow the direction on your screen.
